JokhangLhasa Tour

This five-day Lhasa tour provides a good overview of the city and the surrounding area with all the necessary travel permits and visa requirements fulfilled by our staff.

After an hour flight to Lhasa, we begin our tour. We begin with a visit to Tsedang, the ancient capital of Tibet. This is where Buddhism is said to have spread from China all the way to the Mongolian border.

We will also visit Samye, which continues to be one of the most imposing sights in Tibet. This ancient city was build between 763 and 775 by Padmasambhave (known by Tibetans as Lopon Rimpoche) for the Tibetan King Trison Betsen. The main attraction in Samye is the Mindolin Monastery an important Nyingmapa (Red Hat Sect) monastery. Founded in 1671, its four main temples are currently being restored, but one currently houses a fine statue of Sakyamuni.

After visiting Tsedang and Samye, we head out to Lhasa where we visit, Potala Palace (the main Palace of the Dalai Lama), Norbulinkha Palace (the summer Palace of the Dalai Lama), Jokhang temple, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery.

This tour can begin in any city in mainland China any day of the week or on Tuesday or Saturday from Kathmandu (due to Air China's flight schedules). We can edit the tour's itinerary to accommodate your personal needs.
