NyalamLhasa Kathmandu Tour

Lhasa to Kathmandy tour can be commenced from both directions, either via mainland China or via Kathmandu. The tour consists of a two full day days sightseeing tour within Lhasa after that the tour brings you to Kathmandu via friendship highway. On the way, we will stop at the major highlighted places of Tibet, Gyantse, Shigatse & Sakya.

Gyantse is the fourth largest city in Tibet (after Shigatse and Chamdo). It is small as cities go (population perhaps 10,000) and largely Tibetan in character not touched so much by outside Chinese influence. Strategically sited at a junction between Shigatse and Lhatse, it lies along the caravan routes from Sikkim and Bhutan in the south, Gyantse assumed an important role as a military center and market town- particularly for wool and handicrafts. We visit Palkhor Choide Lamasery, Pangmo Chorten and The Fort (Gyantse Dzong).

Shigatse with a population of around 40,000, is the second largest city in Tibet, and the traditional seat of Panchen Lama. The official Panchen Lama's residence is Tashilhunpo monastery , built in 1447, although it did not really become the seat of the Panchen Lama until almost 200 years later.

Sakya (Sag'ya, 'Grey Earth'), off the main Shigatse to Tingri route, was once the base of the Sakyapa Sect (Red Hats) who rose to power in the 13th century. The sect has numerous followers in Tibet and Sakya is a major pilgrimage for them.

After Samye, we continue drive to Nyalam via vast arid Tibetan Plateau. Nyalam is a semi-arid place situated between Tibetan Plateau and Nepal. From Nyalam we continue drive to Kathmandu via Zhang-Mu.
