The Heart of Tibetan Civilization
This tour covers Tsedang and Samye, the ancient capital of Tibetan Kings and where Tibet's unique culture began. We also visit Yongbulagong, famous as the first building built in Tibet, and near the ancient tomb of the Tibetan kings. On our way back to Lhasa we will visit the famous Mindoloing Monastery in Samyon, build in 1671. From Lhasa we take a day trip to Ganden to visit the Ganden Monastery, which was build in 1490 and at one time had 4000 monks in residence (today there are only 200).
You can join this tour from either Kathmandu or major cities in mainland China (Chengdu, Beijing, Chengdu and Xian). From Kathmandu, this tour begins on Tuesdays or Saturdays due to Air China's flight schedules. You can schedule this tour any day from mainland China.
